Japan publishes JP PINT 1.1.3; input-credit relief for unregistered suppliers drops to 50% in October
The Digital Agency, acting as Japan's Peppol Authority, published version 1.1.3 of the JP PINT specifications on 8 June 2026, covering Peppol BIS Standard Invoice JP PINT, JP BIS Self-Billing Invoice and JP BIS Invoice for Non-tax Registered Businesses, all on UBL 2.1 Invoice and CreditNote syntax. The more consequential date for buyers is 1 October 2026: the transitional measure that let businesses claim 80% of the consumption tax input credit on purchases from suppliers who are not Qualified Invoice Issuers steps down to 50%, where it stays until September 2029. Accounts-payable configurations that hard-coded the 80% rate need updating, and vendor master data should flag registration status so the correct rate is applied per supplier.
