Bahrain procures its national e-invoicing platform while the legal framework is still under review
The National Bureau for Revenue is procuring Bahrain's central e-invoicing platform through the Bahrain Tender Board, covering design, implementation, operation and maintenance of the platform and its supporting technology modules, alongside a review of the legal framework needed to launch. Programme material indicates a phased rollout by turnover — a first wave above BHD 1 million and a second above BHD 500,000 — but those are expected dates rather than enacted obligations, and should be confirmed against NBR publications before anyone plans to them. Bahrain has had VAT since 2019, so the registered taxpayer base the regime will phase against already exists; what is missing is the platform and the legal instrument, not the tax.
